How does the contest work?
It's easy! Snap an awesome photo of your pet and upload it on the "Submit an Entry" page. Caption the photo with an explanation of why it should be given the title of the state's official "Celebrity Pet." Include links to any web sites, online articles, social media pages or other evidence of your pet's fame or starpower.
Then get your family and friends to vote for your pet. Spread the word by e-mail, Facebook and Twitter or you can even post fliers around the neighborhood. The finalists will be picked based on the number of votes received. A panel of pet experts will go over the list of finalists to pick the winner.
How do I enter?
Entering this photo contest is easy! All you have to do is register with us (or sign in via your Facebook account) and then simply upload your photo. Once you're signed in you'll be brought to the submission page where it's as easy as 1,2,3!
What if I just want to vote for a photo?
That's awesome too! You don't have to submit a photo to be part of this contest. We gladly accept voters too. To vote you'll also need to register with us (or sign in via your Facebook account). Then you're free to vote away!
Why do I have to register?
We like to keep track of people entering photos and voting so we can make sure there are no stuffed ballots or anything fishy going on. We promise not to distribute your e-mail to any third parties.
Don't have a pet?
Then you can just look at other people's pets, and vote for your favorite! The photos and stories are all pretty wonderful.
Can any kind of pet be entered?
Sure, as long as it's a house pet (i.e. not livestock or a wild animal), real (i.e. not imaginary) and alive (i.e. not electronic, mechanical or stuffed).
Does my pet have to be "famous" to win?
Nope, though having a pre-existing fan base might help you get out the vote. Even if your dog, cat, bird, fish, reptile or other creature is currently unknown, we intend to make it famous by the time we're done. We'll present the pet with an official certificate declaring it to be "New Hampshire's Celebrity Pet!"
With that kind of credentials, there's no telling what might be next. Maybe parades, ribbon cuttings or TV appearances — or maybe just more respect and less time in the waiting room during that next trip to the vet.
Certificates are fine, but are there prizes?
Yes! We've got great prizes suitable for both pets and their owners.
Grand prize winner will have their pet's photo in the November issue of New Hampshire Magazine as well as receive a certificate commemorating the achievement. This winner will be chosen by our staff and other judges.
People's choice dog: The favorite dog will win a fleece braid with recycled tennis ball courtesy of Woof Purr Creations of Bow, NH.
People's choice cat: The favorite cat will win knotty kitty kandy courtesy of Woof Purr Creations of Bow, NH.
