We're looking for a cover kid (or kids!) for the December 2011 issue of Parenting NH. We're inviting parents, grandparents, guardians and friends to upload a photo for cover consideration.
Our December issue is a holiday issue so we're looking for holiday or winter themed photos of your kids. Need an idea of what kind of photo to submit? Think Christmas trees, sledding, building snowmen or twinkling lights.
Just find your favorite photo or take a new one, upload it on the "Submit an Entry" page and you're good to go!
The winner of the Cover Kid Photo Contest will be chosen by the staff at Parenting NH and the lucky winner will have the submitted photo on the December 2011 cover of Parenting NH.
Photo submission specifications
We need a high quality photo for the cover so please submit high resolution photos only.
You do not need to resize or "touch up" your photo but please know that if your photo is chosen, we will resize and touch up the photo.
What's a high resolution photo and why does it have to be one?
High resolution photos are required for sharp reproduction in print publications otherwise the printing quality is very poor (often it looks grainy or pixilated). For the purposes of this contest, pictures should be taken at the highest resolution setting on the camera.
What are the specifications for the photo?
Your photo should be at least 300 dpi (or ppi) and roughly 10" x 12". Basically, the bigger, the better!
If you copy a photo from your Facebook or another blog site, it's most likely not going to be high enough quality. You will need to take a photo directly off of a camera or from a thumb drive or hard drive.
What else should I take into consideration?
Please remember that we have to put the Parenting NH logo and other text on the cover so don't make the shot too tight. Check out the photos above for ideas on how much space to leave.
When do photos have to be submitted by?
All photos for consideration for the December 2011 cover must be submitted by Monday, October 31, 2011. We know, it seems early, but we're on a deadline.

Other rules
- The age of your child or children in the photo can be from 0-12 years old.
- Please, no more than 3 children in each photo.
- Photos do not need to be taken from 2011.
- Staged photos are fine but professional photos are not.
