We’re inviting you to submit your photos of fall in the Granite State for publication consideration in a reader-sourced feature that will appear in the October 2012 issue of New Hampshire Magazine.
For next year’s fall issue we are planning a photo feature that is composed of photos submitted by our readers. You can submit photos from this season or seasons past by uploading them on the “Submit Entry” page and you’re good to go!
Those photos selected for publication will be chosen by the staff of New Hampshire Magazine and will appear in print and online in October 2012.
This feature emphasizes the towns and cities of New Hampshire, so submit photos that include a landmark of some sort (a monument, bridge, building, etc.) that grounds your photo in a particular place.
Photo submission specifications
We need a high quality photo for print so please submit high resolution photos only.
You do not need to resize or touch up your photo, but please know that if your photo is chosen, we may resize and touch up the photo.
What’s a high resolution photo and why does it have to be one?
High resolution photos are required for sharp reproduction in print publications, otherwise the printing quality is very poor (often it looks grainy or pixilated). For the purpose of this feature, pictures should be taken at the highest resolution setting on the camera.
What are the specifications for the photo?
Your photo should be at least 300 dpi (or ppi). Basically, the bigger the better!
If you copy a photo from your Facebook or another blog site, it’s most likely not going to be of a high enough quality. You will need to take a photo directly off a camera or from a thumb drive or hard drive.
What else should I take into consideration?
We’re really looking for photos that are identifiable. While a single autumn tree in your backyard is likely very beautiful, we need a photo with an obvious landmark. Is there a monument, bridge, building, street, etc. that places your photo in a particular town or place?
While photos from past seasons are acceptable, make sure they’re fairly recent. A photo from 10 years ago probably looks quite different than the current landscape.
